Dysevolution
Understanding a term today which defines us more than anything & other knick knacks
Yesterday, 21st June marked the solstice and I read astrological predictions on it and read- DeFranco’s Spring Cleaning Tip: Do an activity that brought you joy as a child. and thought instantly that how what I was doing was exactly what I had always wanted to and that was reading a book and writing my thoughts on paper. Converting.
But was really fumed to find everyone talking about sleeplessness and insomnia due to the solstice but no one talking of pros and cons of sleeping a tad too much? I was up yesterday till 3, monitoring a clubhouse session of All India Startups and it went on and on for five hours. I had taken power naps throughout the day so this was not am impossible task. An incredible powerhouse session ensued. Because Clubhouse is invite only and I believe can be an awesome place to-
remove the fear of public speaking
a place for introverts to feel included/heard
An awesome web of networking and meeting like minded individuals
I have a sweet surprise- here's a direct link to go to Clubhouse and get added! No invites, no waiting lists- https://www.clubhouse.com/join/book-talks/wbcdBozz

Today I air fried a whole 375 gms of masala fries and an airfryer indeed has changed my life. Bless my lil brother. With how unemployed I am, I don't think I am adept to such luxuries on my own and I have zero financial planning to accost me, and hence I know I am my own sad little pall bearer of all things good and bad. I don't complain.
Yesterday I was frying fries in 3 inch oil and then asking my mom to spare tissue papers and I fooled myself into thinking that I was eating almost healthily. That has not prevented me from eating what I want and when I went.
Yesterday I looked at my under armpit boils and realised that I was not disease free or healthy. These steph boils keep on happening. I can't go through another cyst removal operation the size of a ball or eat 6 pills a day and so I suffer. I am too natural for my suffering. I have been asked not to think of myself as my own doctor. The doctors (multiple consultations) told me that I should take care that my arm pits aren't sweaty. (Groans in complete non compliance) AND That I should curtail my growth and to never wax the pits. I can't follow any of these advices… Because let's just face it, am one sweaty pig. And I live in India, I AM going to sweat, either not wax, become a mirror image of my monkeying ancestors or wax/tax through a sharp razor, even cutting myself and increasing the Staph. Well, well. Decisions decided? :p
Also, while you think how am I writing so much and so well- I have had the chance to learn from the very best (sharing a memo can make ALL the difference, people).
Who all want to get bat shit crazy with freaking astrology? (Comment or DM me and I can send the PDF of any of these if you can't get it on your own. Yes am generous and thought ful like that!)
A huge list of books on Mental Health I really fancied
Me, a brand? Surely, you are kidding? If you ever asked yourself this question, READ THIS BOOK.
The dwindling of the voracious reader into a pall bearer of no page turned
You said you love rabbit holes? Here, List of people who disappeared mysteriously: post-1970 (This is how I got addicted to researching cases of disappearance btw)

LET'S TALK
Now, let's talk about Dysevolution. Heart disease, BP, cancer, diabetes, back pain, depression, anxiety, obesity, flat feet, and many other conditions were extremely rare in our ancestors and now it's prevalent. Lieberman asks, are some forms of ill health a necessary consequence of civilization? Lieberman suggests that “dysevolution,” a vicious circle of treating the symptoms instead of the causes of these diseases, is to blame. Today I was discussing if our ancestors suffered from Anxiety and stress and professionals answered to my Q, elaborating on my research that dysevolution is a new age phenomenon. And maybe our ancestors weren't so susceptible or dying earlier than usual but at least not spending a fortune worrying about functioning properly. Think hard people. I am now imagining my arm pit boil, getting stronger as spank the motivation out of the pus. I can only imagine the crater that is health in lives of those who are caught in the cross fire of a bad health infrastructure and crippling loans to medicate the loved ones and provide them with the care needed. A small boil becomes an ever lasting itch with no cure when it comes to staph, so imagine how terrified my friend must be whose brother got the news no one wants to hear- you have blood cancer. Or a friend whose father is bed ridden after a life threatening haemorrhoid. I can't imagine the plight of choosing between losing life and eating a meal everyday of those who try to survive in a dog eat dog, your- own- body -crushing -your -bill- paying- soul- world.
Not to feel exasperated or defeated or despondent because your days aren't packed with wise and moral actions. But to get back up when you fail, to celebrate behaving like a human—however imperfectly—and fully embrace the pursuit you've embarked on.
— V. 9, trans. Gregory Hays
In your actions, don't procrastinate. In your conversations, don't confuse. In your thoughts, don't wander. In your soul, don't be passive or aggressive. In your life, don't be all about business.
— VIII. 51
One amazing thing which I discovered was the fact that if you look closely, pay attention to captions on Instagram… the internet people have stopped caring about non-functional rules of grammar, like caps. Caps are no longer a necessity but to make the words more default, neutral, or ‘unmarked,’ lowercase is used. I think I will start typing my text in lower Case. Am thinking. What about you?
Though most online trend followers may not know it, there's a long and radical history behind rejecting the subjugation of words to a capital-ist system of language. But there's also a host of other surprising reasons for why Online folks have made it part of their identity.
That’s it for this issue!
